May 8, 2009, 7:48 PM Philippine Time.

While I am writing this, I am watching a live telecast of the Eternal World Television Network on which Pope Benedict XVI had arrived in Queen Alia Airport in Amman, Jordan. He was welcomed with a welcoming ceremony of military rites, marches and band. After the brief military presentation, the Pope shook hands with the officials present.

He entered a large tent with seats inside. Naupo sa loob ang mga opisyal. Shortly, Faisal ibn Hussein, the nation's King leader, made a welcoming address to the Pope and to his papal delegates. Hussein says the harmony of the Jewish, Muslim and Christian faith with regards to the Holy Places in the Near East. He emphasized that Jews, Muslims and Christians are citizens under the law that works out for peace and development. Hussein officially calls the Pope, "Your Holiness".

King Hussein also calls for dialogue between these monotheistic faiths. "We had also committed ourselves to Muslim-Christian understanding", says King Hussein. "Here and elsewhere let us create a neighborhood of peace."

After his Majesty Hussein had concluded his welcoming speech, it's the Pope's turn to speak. "I come to Jordan as a pilgrim." says the Pope. He said he comes to visit some of the significant holy places in Jordan, such as the Mount Nebo, and the River Jordan.

"May He bless Jordan with prosperity and peace" the Pope concluded.
